El testículo : estructura, función y patología testicular más frecuente

Abstract

El trabajo consta de dos partes claramente diferenciadas. En una primera parte, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de los hallazgos anatómicos testiculares más importantes. Han sido descritas también la histofisiología testicular y la regulación hormonal del aparato reproductor masculino así como las principales funciones testiculares, no solo en el aparato reproductor masculino sino también en el sistema endocrino. En una segunda parte y de una manera más ampliada, se han revisado las patologías testiculares más prevalentes. Han sido estudiadas tanto las alteraciones del descenso testicular, como aquellas patologías testiculares relacionadas con alteraciones del flujo vascular, así como la patología infecciosa o tumoral más prevalente. Entre las patologías analizadas en el trabajo, se encuentran la criptorquidia, el varicocele, la orquio-epididimitis, la torsión testicular y el cáncer testicular. En todas ellas, se ha realizado una amplia revisión bibliográfica, basándonos principalmente para su descripción, en la etiopatogenia, clínica, diagnóstico, tratamiento y complicaciones más frecuentemente asociadas con cada una de estas patologías.

This work is divided into two parts. In the first, we conducted a literature review of the most relevant anatomical findings in the testis. The histophysiology and the hormone regulation of the male reproductive system have been also described as well as the most important functions of the testis; not only in the male reproductive system but in the endocrine system as well. In the second part, we reviewed the most prevalent testicular pathology. We have studied the alterations related with the position of the testes, as well as the pathology related to the obstruction of arterial blood supply to the testis, inflammation, infections, and tumoral pathology. Among the analyzed diseases, we investigated cryptorchidism, varicocele, orchi-epididymitis, torsion of testis and the testicular cancer. All of these have been studied with respect to their etiopathology, clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment, and medical complications.
