El maltrato a los ancianos y su abordaje enfermero desde Atención Primaria

Abstract

El maltrato a los ancianos es una realidad hasta hace unas décadas escondida. Sin embargo, con el envejecimiento progresivo de la población a nivel mundial y los diversos cambios políticos y sociales que se avecinan, el maltrato se va a convertir en un problema de primer orden a nivel mundial. A lo largo de los años se ha dado una mayor importancia al maltrato en la infancia y a la violencia de género; dejando a un lado a las personas mayores. Por eso, el propósito de éste trabajo es investigar acerca del maltrato a las personas mayores. Y para poder entender mejor la realizad se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica en la que se han investigado las teorías, los indicadores y los factores de riesgo. Cabe destacar la ausencia de bibliografía actualizada y novedosa; ya que casi ningún texto examinado describe el papel del profesional de enfermería. Se debe remarcar la importancia de la Enfermería como hilo conductor debido a la cercanía y conexión con el paciente y con otros profesionales; sobre todo desde la Atención Primaria. En conclusión, la concienciación y la formación en prevención y actuación ante el maltrato son imprescindibles; y hoy en día insuficientes.

The Elder Abuse has been a reality hidden until a few decades ago. However, due to the progressive aging of the world’s population, and the diverse political and social changes looming, the abuse will become a number one priority problem around the world. Over the years, infant abuse and gender violence had received great importance; leaving the Elder Abuse behind. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to investigate about elder abuse. And to better understand the reality, a bibliographic research has been made to investigate the theories, the indicators and the risk factors. It is imperative to highlight the lack of new and updated bibliography; since almost none of the texts examined described the role of nurses It is important to emphasize the importance of Nursing as a connector due to the nearness and connection with the patience and other professionals; especially in Primary Heath Care. To sum up, awareness and training in prevention and action against abuse is vital; and nowadays insufficient.
