La incidencia de los incendios forestales en los espacios naturales protegidos de Cantabria

Abstract

RESUMEN Actualmente, los incendios forestales son uno de los mayores problemas medioambientales a nivel mundial y España se encuentra entre los países europeos más afectados. Cantabria, concretamente, es una de las regiones del país con mayor incidencia de los incendios forestales. Teniendo en cuenta que casi el 30% de su superficie se encuentra bajo alguna figura de protección, resulta de especial interés estudiar el impacto que tienen los incendios forestales en los espacios naturales protegidos. En este trabajo se presentan la evolución, características y particularidades de los incendios en los espacios naturales protegidos de Cantabria en su conjunto y también de manera individualizada, identificando y caracterizando a los de mayor incidencia.

ABSTRACT Nowadays, wildfires are one of the biggest environmental problems throughout the world and Spain is among the most affected European countries. Cantabria, in particular, is one of the Spanish regions with a highest impact of wildfires. Taking into account that almost the 30% of its surface is recognised as a natural protected area, is particularly interesting to study the impact of wildfires on natural protected areas. This study presents the evolution, features and particularities of wildfires on natural protected areas of Cantabria as a whole and, also, individually, identifying and characterising those with a higher incidence.
