El rey sexuado. La propaganda infamante contra Enrique IV

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo analiza la propaganda de carácter infamante que se generó a finales de la Baja Edad Media castellana contra Enrique IV de Trastámara. En primer lugar se analizan las diversas problemáticas que existieron durante el reinado para, seguidamente, estudiar los medios de propaganda que pudieron ser utilizados. Por último, el trabajo finaliza con un análisis detallado de las crónicas de la época, atendiendo a tres aspectos fundamentales: el retrato que se da del monarca, el uso de su homosexualidad como elemento infamante y la descripción de la muerte de Enrique IV.

ABSTRACT: This essay analyses the discredit propaganda during the final years of the Castilian Later Middle Ages against Henry IV of Trastámara. Firstly, the diverse number of problems that existed during the reign will be analyzed in order to, later on, study the means of propaganda that could have been used at the time. Finally, this study finalizes with a detailed analysis of the contemporary chronicles, emphasizing the study of three main topics: the depiction of Henry IV of Castile in those works, the use of the king’s homosexuality as an element of defame and the description of the monarch’s death.
