Resumen/Abstract
ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the main aspects that conditioned the presence in the Hispanic court of the so-called pleasure people or palatial vermin, a characteristic reality of all the European courts of the Modern Age. This document has been supported as follows. First, we will approach the study from a scientific point of view, stopping in teratology and in aesthetic aspects. Second, we will approach the origin of his presence in the court, referring to the medieval background and its public exhibition in cities, for later delve into the attributions assigned to them. Thirdly, we will analyze individually each of the different groups that formed the set of the palatial vermin. Finally, we will analyze some of the aulic portraits that the main artists of the moment realized of the pleasure people.
