El desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en el aula de ELE a través del uso de imágenes

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo pretende abordar la situación actual del concepto de competencia intercultural en la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera/segunda lengua desde un punto de vista tanto teórico como práctico. Para ello nos hemos propuesto, en primer lugar, investigar cuáles son las implicaciones teóricas de dicha noción y en qué medida han sido interiorizadas por los docentes de ELE/L2. En segundo lugar, hemos decidido proponer su desarrollo práctico en el aula a través del uso de actividades basadas en imágenes, por considerarlas especialmente adecuadas para este propósito. Así mismo, hemos considerado interesante acercarnos, aunque sea de forma tangencial, al ámbito de la alfabetización visual y sus implicaciones en el aula de ELE/L2.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to tackle the concept of Intercultural Competence and its current importance to the Spanish as a Foreign/Second Language teaching process, both in a theoretical and in a practical way. In order to accomplish this task we will first investigate the theoretical implications of this notion and how they have been interiorized by the Spanish as a Foreign/Second Language teachers. The second portion of this essay will propose the practical development of the IC concept through the use of image-based activities, as they might be especially adequate for this purpose. In addition to this, it has been considered compelling to examine, even if in a superficial manner, the area of visual literacy and its implications for the classroom.
