Evaluación de la Wikipedia como recurso educativo en el ámbito universitario español

Abstract

RESUMEN: Esta tesis doctoral, titulada “Evaluación de la Wikipedia como recurso educativo en el ámbito universitario español” pretende conocer cómo se está trabajando actualmente en las universidades españolas con una de las herramientas de la Web 2.0 más utilizadas en todo el mundo, la Wikipedia. Se trata de la quinta página web más visitada del planeta, lo que indica la importancia que ha adquirido en la vida cotidiana de las personas desde su fundación en 2003. Cada vez son más los docentes que enseñan a sus alumnos cómo utilizarla correctamente, para que conozcan sus defectos y sus virtudes. Antes de enseñarlos y guiarlos en el uso de esta herramienta, sería beneficioso conocer cómo y cuándo la utilizan, cuáles son los artículos que consultan, la importancia que la otorgan para sus estudios, si editan en ella, si conocen su funcionamiento interno y otras cuestiones básicas que mostramos a lo largo de nuestra investigación.

ABSTRACT: This doctoral thesis, entitled “Evaluation of Wikipedia as an educational resource in the sphere of the Spanish Higher Education community” aims to study in depth the way in which Spanish universities are currently dealing with and integrating one of the most powerful Web 2.0 tools in the world, Wikipedia. The site is ranked at present as the fifth most visited website in the planet, which shows the importance that it has acquired in the everyday life of people ever since its foundation in 2003. Every day more and more teachers show their students the best ways of using Wikipedia correctly, so that they understand the pros and cons this tool offers. Before doing this, it would be interesting for them to know how and when their students use it, which articles do they mainly visit, what level of importance do they give Wikipedia in the framework of their studies, whether they contribute editing articles in it or not, whether they know their internal operating procedures, and other basic questions that we unveil throughout this research.
