Device and method for soft soil improvement

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a hollow element designed to be inserted into soft soil, and open at least on the lower end thereof, such that when said hollow element is inserted in the soft soil, the inside thereof is filled with said existing soft soil. Said hollow element comprises a cylindrical geogrid designed to allow the circulation of water therethrough, a geosynthetic material which covers the outer surface of the geogrid and has a filter function, allowing water to pass through but not the existing soft soil particles, and at least one geosynthetic material which covers the inner surface of the geogrid and has a double function: it allows water to pass through but not the soft soil particles - filter function - and it proves the hollow element with a radial rigidity - resistance function. The invention also relates to a soft soil improvement method, using the hollow element defined.

RESUMEN: Elemento hueco configurado para introducir en terreno blando, y abierto al menos por su extremo inferior, tal que cuando dicho elemento hueco se introduce en el terreno blando su interior queda relleno de dicho terreno blando existente, y que comprende una geored de forma cilíndrica configurada para permitir la circulación de agua a su través; un geosintético que cubre la superficie exterior de la geored y que realiza una función de filtro, dejando pasar el agua pero no las partículas de terreno blando existente; y al menos un geosintético que cubre la superficie interior de la geored y que realiza una doble función: por un lado deja pasar el agua pero no las partículas de terreno blando -función filtro- y por otro lado dota al elemento hueco de una rigidez radial —función resistencia-. Un método de mejora de terreno blando, utilizando el elemento hueco definido.
