El cabildo de la iglesia catedral de Burgos en la Baja Edad Media (1352-1407)

Abstract

RESUMEN: La presente tesis tiene como objetivo general el estudio de la estructura interna, evolución económica y social del cabildo de la iglesia Catedral de Burgos en el siglo XIV, entre 1352 y 1407. La fuente principal utilizada, los “Libros Redondos” del Archivo Catedralicio, han estructurado este estudio. Se parte del estado de la cuestión sobre los cabildos catedralicios en la historiografía española y europea. Tras el análisis de la fuente principal, se ha podido recomponer la composición, evolución del cabildo y determinar la intervención pontificia, monárquica, episcopal y ordinaria en las provisiones eclesiásticas y su vinculación con las redes clientelares. El análisis de los resultados no puede desligarse del contexto del Cisma de Occidente. Se demuestra la incidencia de la crisis en el patrimonio rural y urbano capitular, en las fórmulas de arrendamiento y en el balance de ingresos/gastos y rentas. Igualmente se analiza la dimensión litúrgica, cultural y la proyección del cabildo en la sociedad burgalesa.

ABSTRACT: The Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Burgos in the Late Midle-Ages (1352-1407) The general objective of this thesis is the study of the internal structure, economic and social development of Burgos’s Cathedral Church Chapter in the fourteenth century, between 1352 and 1407. The main source used, the “Libros Redondos” of the Cathedral´s archive, have allowed structuring this study. This thesis begins with the presentation of the state of the art of the Cathedral chapters in the Spanish and European historiography. After performing the analysis of the primary source, it has been able to recompose the composition and development of the chapter, and determine pontifical, monarchical, and regular intervention of ecclesiastical provisions and its link to patronage networks. Analysis of the results cannot be separated from the of Western Schism context. It has been shown the incidence of the crisis in the rural and urban heritage of the chapter, the leasing methods and the balance of income/expenses and rents. Likewise, liturgical and cultural dimensions, and projection of the chapter in the society of Burgos have also been analyzed.
