Terapia con caballos en personas con discapacidad : revisión sistematica

Abstract

RESUMEN: Introducción: las personas con afectación neurológica poseen múltiples limitaciones físicas abordadas en la mayoría de casos mediante fisioterapia convencional, resulta interesante el estudio de aplicación de nuevas técnicas, o éstas como complemento a las tradicionales, para lograr un abordaje más efectivo y conseguir mejoras en el paciente. Objetivos: el objetivo del presente estudio es evaluar la influencia y efectividad de la hipoterapia en personas con discapacidad, para conocer las mejoras que sobre el paciente ésta aporta. Material y métodos: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de artículos publicados tanto en inglés como español, en las siguientes bases de datos: Medline, PEDro, OTseeker, IBECS y The Cochrane Library Plus empleando diferentes palabras clave en relación a la terapia con caballos y discapacidad. Se incluyeron únicamente ensayos controlados aleatorizados publicados en los últimos 10 años y posteriormente fueron evaluados a través de la escala CASpe para seleccionar aquellos con más fiabilidad. Se incluyeron un total de 10 estudios. Resultados: muestran la mejoría en parámetros de marcha, equilibrio, función motora gruesa, actividad y fuerza muscular, capacidad funcional y funcionalidad, tiempo de reacción, postura y calidad de vida, sobre esta última influye directamente la mejora en el resto de variables, obteniendo en todas ellas una p =/<0,05. Conclusión: la aplicación de un programa de hipoterapia en personas con diferentes patologías neurológicas, demuestra resultados positivos para el paciente tras observarse mejoras en múltiples aspectos que afectan directamente a la movilidad y funcionalidad de las personas con limitaciones físicas y por ello directamente sobre su CDV. Las investigaciones son muy limitadas, pero los resultados son esperanzadores, por ello futuras investigaciones deben ser realizadas.

ABSTRACT: Introduction: people with neurological condition have multiple physical limitations which are treated in most cases with conventional physiotherapy. It is interestingly the study of application of new techniques, or these as a complement to traditional ones, to achieve a more effective approach and for further improvements in the patient. Objectives: the objective of the present study is to assess the influence and effectiveness of Hippotherapy for people with disabilities, in order to learn about the improvements that it brings to the patient. Material and methods: a literature review was carried out with articles published in English and Spanish, in the following databases: MEDLINE, PEDro, OTseeker, IBECS, and The Cochrane Library Plus using different key words in relation to therapy with animals and disability, obtaining only articles that met criteria in the field of therapy with horses. We only included randomised controlled trials published in the last 10 years and they were subsequently evaluated through the scale CASpe to select the most reliable. A total of ten studies were included. Results: they show the improvement in gait parameters, balance, gross motor function, activity and muscle strength, functional capacity and functionality, reaction time, pathway and quality of life, on which the improvement in the rest of variables directly influences, obtaining a p = /< 0,05 in all of them. Conclusion: the application of a Hippotherapy programme for people with various neurological pathologies, shows positive results for the patient after seeing improvements in multiple aspects that directly affect the mobility and functionality of people with physical limitations and therefore directly on their QOL. The investigations are very limited, but the results are promising, so future research must be carried out.
