Relación entre la prematuridad, funciones orales no verbales y otras variables secundarias

Abstract

RESUMEN: Objetivos: El estudio analiza la relación de las alteraciones de las funciones orales no verbales y otras variables asociadas con la prematuridad. Elaborando una anamnesis de dichas funciones según la visión de la familia. Metodología: es un estudio transversal descriptivo observacional, sin intervención del observador. Se evaluaron a 12 niños prematuros que acuden a Atención Temprana de Cantabria y País Vasco, con encuestas cumplimentadas por los padres y elaboradas por los profesionales que participan en este estudio. Resultados: No existe ningún sujeto con patologías asociadas. 5 prematuros presentan dificultades en la deglución en neonatología. En la masticación de sólidos 4 prematuros presentan dificultades. Existen 6 con malos hábitos: chuparse/ morder los labios, lengua o dedos. 5 de estos, presentan respiración bucal durante el sueño y una mala gestión del aire en el ejercicio. Discusión: Existe una relación entre la prematuridad y las dificultades en la alimentación tanto en las unidades de neonatología como posteriormente en la masticación de sólidos. Encontrándose una mordida abierta y la habitual mordida de dedos, labios y lengua, no obteniendo una relación entre estos; como tampoco que no presenten una posición interdental de la lengua. Aunque sí muestran una respiración bucal que les afecta al ejercicio, pero no al control de respiración y voz, ni a la estructura facial. Así mismo, durante el sueño también permanecen con la boca abierta, teniendo esfuerzo para respirar pero no afectando a la calidad de sueño. Muestran catarros y otitis frecuentes, así como problemas durante el embarazo y parto.

ABSTRACT: Objectives: This essay analyses the connection between the alterations of the nonverbal oral functions and other variables associated with prematurity, making an anamnesis of these functions according to the family’s point of view. Methodology: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study, without intervention of the observer. It has been evaluated 12 premature children attending Early Care in Cantabria and the Basque Country, with questionnaires filled out by parents and developed by the professionals involved in this study. Results: There is no subject with associated pathologies. 5 premature children have difficulty in swallowing in neonatology. When chewing solid, 4 premature babies have trouble. There are 6 who have bad habits: sucking/biting the lips, tongue or fingers. 5 of these present mouth breathing during sleep and have trouble managing air when exercising. Discussion: There is a relationship between prematurity and feeding difficulties in both neonatal units and subsequently in chewing solid. Finding an open bite and the usual biting of fingers, lips and tongue, it is not found a connection between these, nor an interdental tongue position. Although they do show mouth breathing, which affects them when exercising, it does not affect their control of breathing and voice, or facial bone structure. Furthermore, they remain open-mouthed while sleeping, taking extra effort to breathe, but this does not affect the quality of sleep. They show frequent colds and ear infections, as well as problems during pregnancy and childbirth.
