Intervención logopédica en el síndrome de Prader Willi : revisión sistemática

Abstract

RESUMEN: La presente revisión sistemática tiene como objetivo analizar de forma crítica los diferentes estudios realizados en los últimos 25 años sobre la intervención logopédica en el síndrome de Prader-Willi. Para desarrollar este trabajo se llevó a cabo una búsqueda de artículos en castellano, francés, portugués e inglés, en diferentes bases de datos (Pubmed y Google Académico) con la finalidad de mostrar las características del habla y del lenguaje propios del síndrome, y esclarecer la eficacia y necesidad del tratamiento logopédico en dicha patología. Tras una primera revisión, se observa que existe muy poca bibliografía sobre el tema abordado, identificándose un total de seis artículos que tienen en cuenta la intervención logopédica en las alteraciones del habla y del lenguaje halladas en el síndrome de Prader-Willi. Al concluir esta revisión, se esclarece que apenas existe información en referencia al papel que juega el logopeda en el tratamiento del síndrome. Los resultados obtenidos del análisis de los artículos seleccionados muestran que existe una gran variabilidad intra e interpersonal en las personas aquejadas de dicha patología. Pese a ello, es necesario establecer una intervención logopédica individualizada una vez el sujeto haya sido diagnosticado. Ello va a permitir a la persona lograr grandes mejoras en habilidades comunicativas en todos los contextos que le rodean. Es conveniente continuar en esta línea de investigación para poder determinar qué procedimientos terapéuticos específicos son los más efectivos para garantizar la calidad de vida de los individuos con síndrome de Prader-Willi.

ABSTRACT: This systematic review has the aim to critically analyze the different studies published over the last 25 years about the speech therapy in Prader-Willi syndrome. In order to develop this work, was conducted a search of articles in Spanish, French, Portuguese and English, placed on different databases (Pubmed and Google Academics), with the purpose of showing the speech and language characteristics distinctive of the syndrome, and clarify the effectiveness and necessity of the speech therapy in this disease. After an initial review, it is noticed that there is very little bibliography about the topic addressed, identifying a total of six articles about the speech therapy in speech and language disorders on Prader-Willi syndrome. At the end the investigation, it was clarified that there is very little information related to the role of speech therapy in the treatment of the syndrome. The results obtained from the selected articles analysis show that there is a huge intra and interpersonal variability on the people suffering this disease. Nevertheless, it is necessary to create an individualized speech therapy, once the subject has been diagnosed. This will allow the person reaching great improvements on communication skills all over the surrounding contexts. It is advisable to continue on this line of investigation to be able to determine which specific therapeutic strategies are most effective to ensure the life quality of the individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome.
