Gonzalo Martínez Diez (1924-2015) : notas sobre su contribución a la historiografía jurídica española.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the major historiographical contribution of Gonzalo Martinez Diez, Professor of History of Law, developed along its nearly sixty years of research activity, as the author of a total of three hundred publications, including books, articles and book chapters, and other publications. It is highlighted in this brief overview of his works his condition specialist in the history of canon law; its contribution to the issue of fundamental texts for legal history and medieval history, addressing sources available only to those who freely unfolds in historical science, historical-legal science and the auxiliary sciences, its main Calf works editions of Libro de las Behetrías, Bulario de la Inquisición, Hispana, fueros municipales, colección de Observancias, el Espéculo, el Fuero Real ..., etc. His works of history of law and Basque institutions, or the figure of the Cid, and finally, its various publications on the Castilian-Leon medieval history, through which is shown able to reclaim their history with passion, but dispassionately, from scientific rigor and historical truth, virtues that are reflected in one of his last publications, and otherwise, his most ambitious work as a historian, Castilla Condal (711-1038).
