Del espacio subjetivo al espacio objetivo: las posibilidades didácticas de la geografía de la percepción y del comportamiento. Aplicación sobre la ciudad de Santander

Abstract

RESUMEN El espacio geográfico es mucho más que sus características físicas, es el soporte sobre el que se establecen las relaciones hombre-medio. La Geografía de la Percepción y del Comportamiento va más allá, ya que además de recoger estos aspectos del espacio y las relaciones que en él se establecen, lo hace dando voz a los ciudadanos, es decir, al alumnado, a partir de sus percepciones espaciales, o lo que se conoce como espacio subjetivo. Esta posibilidad de adaptar los contenidos geográficos que le son propios y permitir una metodología fundamentalmente activa, le confieren una gran utilidad en su dimensión educativa. Potenciar las capacidades que permitan al alumnado adquirir las competencias espaciales indispensables para interactuar en la ciudad que habitan, de forma competente y comprometida, resulta esencial, ya que será algo que les acompañe el resto de su vida.

ABSTRACT The geographical area is much more than its physical characteristics; it’s the support on which relationships between humans and the environment are established. Behavioral Geography goes beyond, especially because aside of gathering these aspects of space and the relationships established in it, it does it by giving voice to the citizens, that means the students, from their spatial perceptions, or what is known as a subjetive space. This possibility to adapt the geographic content of its own and allow essentially active methodology, confers great utility in its educational dimension. Strengthen the capacities to enable the students acquire the necessary spatial skills so as to interact with the city they live in with a competent and comitted lifestyle is essential, as it will be something to accompany them for the rest of their lives.
