Aunque en los últimos años, la literatura española ha cobrado mayor protagonismo en la enseñanza de Español como Lengua Extranjera, todavía existen periodos literarios marginados y de los cuales apenas encontramos materiales didácticos interesantes y actuales para llevar a la clase de español. En este sentido, resulta pertinente citar toda la literatura realista española de la segunda mitad del XIX, que no solo ha sido poco tratada por los docentes de la materia, sino que también ha sido aparcada en su estudio. Paradójicamente, en los textos literarios de las principales novelas realistas encontramos muchas de las claves interpretativas para entender la idiosincrasia española y, de este modo, fomentar en el aula de ELE el desarrollo de las competencias sociocultural e intercultural. 
Por este motivo, y teniendo en cuenta el espacio urbano de la ciudad española que describen cinco de las principales novelas realistas del Realismo en España, planteamos el estudio de este fenómeno y su aplicación práctica a través del diseño de una propuesta didáctica destinada a servir como herramienta de acercamiento cultural.},

In the last years, Spanish literature has gained prominence in the field of teaching Spanish as a foreign language. However, there are still some marginalised literary periods about which we can hardly find interesting and up-to-date didactic materials to use in a Spanish lesson. In this sense, it seems appropriate to refer to all Spanish realist literature of the second half of the 19th century, with which Spanish teachers have hardly dealt and, what is more, whose study has been left aside. Paradoxically, in literary texts of the main realist novels we can find numerous keys to understand Spanish idiosyncrasy and, this way, to promote development of the sociocultural and intercultural competences in the SFL classroom. 
For that reason, and taking into account the urban space of Spanish cities which is described by five of the main realist novels of Realism in Spain, we suggest the study of this phenomenon and its practical application through the design of a didactic proposal which can serve as a tool for cultural approach.},
