Capturado por los piratas de Salé en 1670, permanecería más de una década en diversas ciudades de Marruecos siendo finalmente liberado por la Orden de los mercedarios. Si bien poco se sabe del mismo, el interés que demuestra por el comercio, su pragmática percepción del cautiverio, su afán en suma por facilitar una información contrastable y provechosa, compensan en buena medida el discurso redentorista al que se circunscribía su relato. Tras una contextualización de su testimonio valorando el fenómeno del cautiverio a ambas orillas del Mediterráneo, la incidencia de Salé o las relaciones que mantuvieron la Francia de Luis XIV con la dinastía alauita, se analizarán circunstancias y aspectos de su cautiverio, de su captura a su redención, teniendo en cuenta tanto la historiografía al respecto como testimonios que dejaron algunos de sus contemporáneos. Por último, se intentará ponderar la pertinencia y veracidad de su relato, considerar hasta qué punto su percepción del cautiverio puede o no ser tenida en cuenta a la hora de valorar un fenómeno que caracterizó su muy relativa uniformidad.}, abstract = {ABSTRACT Based on the testimony of a captive published in Paris in 1683, “Account of Sir Moüette´s captivity in the kingdoms of Fez and Morocco, where he lived for eleven years ”, with this piece of work we intend to approach the particular point of view of the author about his captivity. Captured by the pirates of Salé in 1670, he was held for more than a decade in different cities in Morocco until he was finally liberated by the Mercedarian Order. Even though little is known about him, the interest he shows towards commerce, his pragmatic vision of captivity, his enthusiasm to facilitate truthful and verifiable information, compensate to a large extent the redemptorist discourse to which his story was limited to. After contextualizing his testimony considering the phenomenon of captivity in both sides of the Mediterranean, Salé´s influence or the relationship between Louis XIV´s France and the Alawy dynasty, the circumstances and aspects of his captivity will be analysed, from the moment of his capture until his redemption, taking into account both the existing historiography and accounts left by some of his contemporaries. Finally, the adequacy and veracity of his tale will be assessed, including to what extent his perception of captivity can be taken into account when analyzing a phenomenon which was characterized by its very relative uniformity.}, title = {Experiencias de cautiverio: Sieur Moüette, una década en el reino Alauí a finales del siglo XVII}, author = {Mullet, Alexandre}, }
