Architecture and implementation details of the MAC processor including a hardware accelerator and a 16-bit MACphysical layer (PHY) interface are presented. The proposed hardware solution is tested and verified using a PHY link emulator. Architecture, design, implementation, and test of a reconfigurable digital baseband processor are described too. Description includes the baseband algorithms (the main blocks being MIMO channel estimation and Tx-Rx analogue beamforming), their FPGA-based implementation, baseband printed-circuit-board, and real-time tests}, organization = {The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme FP7 (2007-2013) under the grant agreement no. 213952 also referred as MIMAX.}, publisher = {SpringerOpen}, publisher = {EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking 2011, 2011, 207}, title = {MAC and baseband processors for RF-MIMO WLAN}, author = {Stamenkovic, Zoran and Tittelbach-Helmrich, Klaus and Krstic, Milos and Ibáñez Díaz, Jesús María and Elvira Arregui, Víctor and Santamaría Caballero, Luis Ignacio}, }
