abstract = {RESUMEN: El trabajo se plantea como objetivo fundamental determinar las estructuras
territoriales del bienestar social en España, haciendo uso de técnicas del Análisis
Multivariante. Estas técnicas, aunque no han sido utilizadas en la Geografía clásica, han
servido ampliamente en las últimas décadas a la Geografía cuantitativa. El trabajo que
se presenta, pues, se sitúa entre la Geografía Humana y la Estadística y pretende ser un
puente entre ambas disciplinas.
Con el fin de alcanzar el objetivo central del trabajo se seleccionaron variables
inequívocamente ligadas al bienestar social, relacionadas con la actividad económica, el
desarrollo cultural, la modernización demográfica, los movimientos migratorios y el
desarrollo turístico. Estas variables, una vez reducidas o transformadas en indicadores,
se agruparon posteriormente en unos pocos factores que las resumen y explican.
Finalmente, y tomando las provincias como unidad de análisis, se llevaron a cabo
agrupaciones espaciales atendiendo a su similitud interna, con el fin de definir y
cartografiar las estructuras territoriales del bienestar en España.},
abstract = {ABSTRACT: Te goal of this research is to determine the territorial structures of social welfare
in Spain, using Multivariate Analysis techniques. These techniques, which had not been
used before in classical Geography, have been extensively employed over the past
decades in quantitative Geography. Therefore the research presented can be considered
as a bridge between the two disciplines, Human Geography and Statistics.
In order to achieve the main objective of the research, we selected several
variables, directly related to welfare, which measured aspects of the economic activity,
the socio cultural development, the demographic modernization, the population
displacements and the tourism development. These variables were reduced or
transformed into indicators, and then, they were grouped in a few factors that
summarize and explain them. Taking the provinces as the unit of analysis, we conducted
a spatial clustering process based on the internal similarity of each group of provinces,
in order to define and map the territorial structures of welfare in Spain.},
