abstract = {En la segunda mitad del siglo XX se desarrolló un modelo turístico en las Islas
Baleares para explotar su belleza, su buen clima y sus playas para atraer a los
turistas europeos adinerados y convertir sus atractivos en un motor económico.
Durante todos estos años, el modelo se ha ido desarrollando más y ha derivado
en lo que muchos denominan “el basurero de Europa”. Precios más que
asequibles para las rentas altas de los europeos, y a la vez prohibitivos para los
habitantes de las islas.
Esta problemática ha desarrollado, paralelamente, una serie de prácticas que
han crispado aún más la situación. Hablamos del auge de la prostitución, la
explotación sexual, la trata de seres humanos y el tráfico de drogas. En este
trabajo de investigación, voy a realizar un análisis cualitativo para determinar la
magnitud del problema. Además, pondré sobre la mesa temas como la falta de
literatura académica o la necesidad de hacer un trabajo de sensibilización en las
aulas.
Al final de este estudio, podremos entender y valorar el modelo turístico de sitios
tan explotados como las Baleares y determinar si eso, desde las instituciones,
merece la pena para nuestra región, o si es mejor plantear con tiempo un modelo
respetuoso y regulado para no colapsar los servicios que los habitantes de
Cantabria necesitamos para vivir.},
abstract = {In the second half of the 20th century, a tourism model was developed in the
Balearic Islands to exploit its beauty, good climate and beaches to attract wealthy
European tourists and turn its attractions into an economic engine. Over the
years, the model has developed further and developed into what many refer to
as ‘the dumping ground of Europe’. Prices are more than affordable for highincome
Europeans, yet prohibitively expensive for islanders.
This problem has led to the development of a series of practices that have further
exacerbated the situation. We are talking about the rise of prostitution, sexual
exploitation, human trafficking and drug trafficking. In this research paper, I will
carry out a qualitative analysis to determine the extent of the problem. In addition,
I will raise issues such as the lack of academic literature and the need to raise
awareness in the classroom.
At the end of this study, we will be able to understand and evaluate the tourist
model of places as exploited as the Balearic Islands and determine whether this,
from the institutions, is worthwhile for our region or whether it is better to propose
a respectful and regulated model in time so as not to collapse the services that
the inhabitants of Cantabria need to live.},
