abstract = {El papel que juegan las empresas familiares en la economía nacional y mundial
es crucial, así como su relevancia en ámbito económico. No obstante, el concepto de
empresa familiar no cuenta aún con una definición unánime para describirlo. El factor
diferenciador que poseen este tipo de compañías, como se analizará a lo largo del
trabajo, y que por tanto las diferencia realmente del resto es el conjunto de
interrelaciones entre la familia, la propiedad y la empresa.
Por otro lado, se destaca el proceso de sucesión, como el principal desafío al
que se enfrentan estas organizaciones. Esto no solo supone el traspaso de la dirección
de la empresa y su control, sino que va acompañado además de la transmisión de los
valores y la visión que la empresa familiar ha mantenido a lo largo de los años. Este
momento puede resultar afectado por una serie de factores, por ejemplo, la preparación
y la formación del sucesor, las expectativas y aspiraciones de los miembros de la
familia, y las relaciones internas en el seno de la familia.
Además, cobra gran importancia la elaboración de un Protocolo Familiar como
una herramienta vital, creada por los miembros de la familia con el fin de prevenir y
solucionar posibles conflictos que puedan llegar a surgir durante y después de la
sucesión. Con él, se establecen ciertas normas y acuerdos claros sobre el modo de
gestionar la empresa, de tomar decisiones y de manejo de los conflictos.
Con este trabajo se busca promover la investigación en un ámbito relativamente
nuevo como es la empresa familiar, así como profundizar en el análisis para aumentar
la compresión y la valoración de las características distintivas de las empresas
familiares, ya que su contribución a la economía, su papel en la creación de empleo, la
defensa de los valores familiares y el mantenimiento de los negocios y traspaso a las
futuras generaciones resultan fundamentales. Con ello, se conseguirá que los
empresarios puedan acceder a una mejor gestión de sus negocios y los estudiantes y
científicos realizar mejores investigaciones sobre puntos cruciales de manera que se
consiga concienciar a la sociedad de la necesidad de apoyar y fomentar la sostenibilidad
de las empresas familiares.},
abstract = {The role that family businesses play in the national and global economy is crucial,
as it is their relevance in the economic background. However, the concept of a family
business still lacks a unanimous definition. The distinguishing factor of these kind of
companies, as will be analyzed throughout this paper, and what truly sets them apart
from others, is the set of interrelationships between the family, property, and the
business.
On the other hand, the succession process stands out as the main challenge
faced by these organizations. This does not only involves transfering of management
and control of the company but also includes the transmission of all the values and vision
that the family business has mantained over the years. This moment can be influenced
by various factors, such as the preparation and training of the successor, the
expectations and aspirations of family members, and the internal relationships within the
family.
Furthermore, the development of a Family Protocol is of great importance as a
vital tool created by family members to prevent and resolve potential conflicts that may arise during and after the succession. This protocol establishes certain rules and clear
agreements on how to manage the business, make decisions, and handle conflicts.
This work aims to promote research in a relatively new field, as indeed family
businesses are, and to deepen the analysis to increase the understanding and
appreciation of the distinctive characteristics of family businesses. Their contribution to
the economy, their role in job creation, the defense of family values, and the maintenance
of businesses and their transfer to future generations are fundamental. By doing so,
entrepreneurs will be able to better manage their businesses, and students and scientists
will conduct better research on important points, raising awareness in society about the
need to support and promote the sustainability of family businesses.},
