abstract = {Mediante el presente trabajo analizamos el origen del simbolismo en el género Homo, explorando la evolución de las capacidades cognitivas y culturales que permitieron el desarrollo de manifestaciones simbólicas. A través de una revisión bibliográfica, se abordan los diversos tipos de simbolismo, como el adorno personal, el uso de pigmentos o las marcas sobre hueso, concha y piedra, con el objetivo de identificar a través del registro arqueológico qué especies desarrollaron o hicieron uso de este tipo de capacidades. El comportamiento simbólico, un hito único en la evolución humana, no parece responder a un origen único sino que se ha desarrollado en varias especies, posiblemente de manera independiente.},
abstract = {Through this work we analyze the origin of symbolism in the genus Homo, exploring the evolution of the cognitive and cultural capacities that allowed the development of symbolic manifestations. Through a literature review, we address the various types of symbolism, such as personal adornment, the use of pigments or markings on bone, shell and stone, with the aim of identifying through the archaeological record which species developed or made use of this type of capabilities. Symbolic behavior, a unique milestone in human evolution, does not seem to respond to a single origin but has developed in several species, possibly independently.},
