abstract = {In this report, we study the problem of determining whether a function has an antiderivative that can be written in terms of elementary functions. Additionally, we discuss a collection of algorithms that find the antiderivative of a rational function and lay the groundwork for a general algorithm (the Risch’s algorithm). Finally, the normal distribution function e−x2 appears as an example of function that does not have an elementary antiderivative.},
