Two different 5 km long sections were monitored alternatively by using a fast remotely controlled and optically powered up optical switch. The sensed fibers were located 10 km away from the interrogation unit. The BOTDA unit uses a simplified configuration to reduce the sensor network costs. Proof-of-concept experiments were carried out verifying the capacity of the proposed system.}, organization = {This work was supported by the Spanish Government project TEC2010-20224-C02}, publisher = {SPIE Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers}, publisher = {Proceedings of SPIE, 2012, vol. 8421, 84218E}, publisher = {22nd International Conference on Optical Fiber Sensors, Pekín, 2012}, title = {BOTDA sensor network with power by light remote switching}, author = {Ullán Nieto, Ángel and Bravo Acha, Mikel and Zornoza Indart, Ander and Loayssa Lara, Alayn and López Amo, Manuel and López Higuera, José Miguel}, }
