They behave essentially like long-period Bragg gratings except for the fact that they are not permanent but volatile. This is because these devices are not formed by the UV-induced increment of the refractive index but by the twisting of a pristine HiBi fiber. This way, a long period fiber grating whose characteristics can be modified by changing the polarization of the incoming light is obtained.}, publisher = {SPIE Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers}, publisher = {Proceedings of SPIE, 2004, vol. 5502, 447-450}, publisher = {Second European Workshop on Optical Fibre Sensors, Santander, 2004}, title = {Virtual long-period fiber gratings}, author = {Jáuregui Misas, César and Quintela Incera, María Ángeles and Márquez, P. and López Higuera, José Miguel and Cobo García, Adolfo and González Fernández, Daniel Aquilino}, }
