Retrasar la edad de concepción y el estilo de vida son algunas de las causas que derivan en la necesidad de acudir a las Unidades de Reproducción Asistida. Las técnicas de reproducción asistida pueden ser la solución de muchas parejas cuyo objetivo es conseguir tener hijos. La estimulación ovárica, la inseminación artificial o la fecundación in vitro llevan desarrollándose desde hace décadas ayudando a lograr este objetivo. La posibilidad de acceder a los tratamientos depende del país y de la legislación vigente. En la actualidad, las Unidades de Reproducción Asistida se han convertido en un servicio ampliamente demandado nacional e internacionalmente formado por un equipo multidisciplinar. Los profesionales de enfermería son un elemento clave ya que acompañan en todo el proceso asistencial mejorando la atención a las parejas. La presencia de enfermería es beneficiosa en numerosos aspectos para las parejas, siendo su principal fuente de apoyo y mejorando su satisfacción. El objetivo general de esta monografía es describir el papel de los profesionales de enfermería en las Unidades de Reproducción Asistida. Assisted reproduction technology can be the solution for many couples whose goal is to have children. Ovarian stimulation, artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization have been developing for decades to help achieve this goal. Access to treatment depends on the country and the legislation in force. At present, the Assisted Reproduction Units have become a widely demanded service nationally and internationally formed by a multidisciplinary team.
