Statistical analysis suggests that individuals that have high levels of self-efficacy, have a greater degree of civic engagement or are carers, are more likely to "co-produce" environmental outcomes. In addition, women, rural-dwellers, university graduates and middle-aged individuals exhibit more pro-environmental behaviours. Further analysis suggests that environmental co-production is more prevalent in areas with a high degree of compatibility between local public services and citizens, but worse recycling services and less overall investment in environmental services.}, organization = {Authors acknowledge support from the Horizon 2020 Programme under grant agreement No. 726755 (Project CITADEL: H2020-SC6-CULT-COOP-2016-2017) and the Erasmus+ Programme – Jean Monnet Chair on “European Economic Policy for Business & Civil Society” (grant agreement No. 586909-EPP-1-2017-1-ESEPPJMO-CHAIR).
