abstract = {RESUMEN Si buscamos algo que pueda caracterizar los siglos XIX y XX deberíamos referirnos a la expansión de las ideas imperialistas que llevaron aparejado el crecimiento territorial de los distintos imperios europeos y el subsiguiente proceso de descolonización. En esa dinámica, el Imperio británico puso su atención en hacerse con el control sobre la que luego sería su Joya de la Corona: el subcontinente indio. Desde la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII y hasta 1947, el Reino Unido mantuvo el control sobre ese vasto territorio, donde pronto empezarían a desarrollarse las primeras resistencias a la dominación británica. Nació así un nacionalismo indio, que ciertamente consolidado de 1885 empezó a reclamar derechos políticos para la India, iniciándose un proceso que con el tiempo y a consecuencia de las circunstancias internas y externas de la colonia acabó convirtiéndose en una fuerte lucha emancipadora que acabó con la Independencia de la India y Pakistán de 1947.},
abstract = {ABSTRACT If we look for something characteristic of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries we need to speak about the expansion of the imperialist ideas which provoked the territorial growth of the European empires and the subsequent decolonisation process. In that way, the British empire looked to the territory that later would become his Jewel in the Crown: the Indian subcontinent. From the second half of the Eighteenth century to 1947, the United Kingdom maintained its control over this large territory, where soon would develop the first resistances to the British domination. It was born the Indian nationalism, which was consolidated in 1885 when it began to demand political rights for India, beginning then a process that later, and influenced by internal and external circumstances of the colony, would become a strong emancipator fight that finished with the Independence of India and Pakistan in 1947.},
